Lunar Wholesale Voice

US termination and origination, straight from us.

Send us your US calls, or take US numbers from us: termination and origination (DIDs) over SIP trunks. Every call is signed with STIR/SHAKEN, and calls to 911 go first.

  1. What it includes

Termination, origination and the tools to run them.

    Termination
Calls to US numbers, sent to us over your SIP trunk.
    Origination
US numbers (DIDs) from Lunar, with their calls delivered to your trunk.
    Trunks
SIP, authenticated by your IP addresses or by digest credentials.
    Identity
Every call is signed with STIR/SHAKEN, and signatures on incoming calls are checked.
    Integration
An API, call detail records (CDRs) and webhooks.
    Billing
Prepaid balances that can end a call when credit runs out.
  2. One call

    A call, step by step.

What happens to a call you send us, from the first INVITE to the record it leaves. Calls to your numbers come the other way, from the network to your trunk.

    Illustration · one call
    1. INVITEIt arrives on your trunk. Your switch sends the call over a SIP trunk. The trunk knows you by your IP addresses, or by digest authentication with a username and password.
    2. CHECKIt is checked before it is routed. Fraud controls check it: velocity limits, spend caps, and international destinations blocked unless you turn them on. Your prepaid balance is checked too.
    3. ROUTEA route is chosen. Astra picks the route the call takes onward. The decision is made at the edge, on the node the call arrived at.
    4. SIGNIt leaves signed. Astra signs the call with STIR/SHAKEN, so the networks after it can check who vouched for the caller ID.
    5. IN CALLThe balance runs with it. Your prepaid balance is drawn down as the call runs, and the call is ended if the credit runs out.
    6. BYEIt leaves a record. When the call ends, its call detail record is written. Read it over the API, or have call events sent to you by webhook.
  3. Guardrails

What holds when things go wrong.

A wholesale trunk is a target for fraud, and a phone service has duties that come before billing. These are built in from the start.

    1. 01 Fraud

      Fraud limits on the trunk.

Velocity limits and spend caps on every account, and international destinations blocked unless you ask for them.

    2. 02 Scoring

      Call scoring with Heimdall.

Astra can score each call with Heimdall, Lunar's call-security product, at admission. The step is optional, and emergency calls (911, 933) and calls to the 988 crisis line are never scored, delayed or blocked by Heimdall.

    3. 03 Notice

      A blocked call is told.

If a call is blocked on the strength of call analytics, the caller gets the FCC's SIP 603+ notice.

  4. 911 comes first

    911 comes first.

Calls to 911 are routed first, even when everything else fails: with no credit left, with the account locked for fraud, or with the edge cut off from the rest of the platform.

  5. The platform

  6. The same hardened edge

    The same hardened edge.

Calls come in through the same hardened edge as Astra.

  7. Early access

    Open for early access.

Lunar Wholesale Voice is open for early access to carriers and voice providers. To start, tell us three things.

    1. Your traffic

Termination, origination or both, and where your calls go.

    2. Your numbers

The DIDs you need, and the areas you need them in.

    3. Your trunks

How your switch connects: by IP address or by digest credentials.

    Request early access.
